another session of experimenting with light and dark, with some very interesting effects. rubbing with the eraser gets nice lighting effects, but they are a bit too light when one wants to continue on a drawing for more then a few minutes. one way I have discovered to fix this problem is rub over the erased area with a dirty cloth at the start of the second stage. that way the tone returns to a nice 2-3 instead of a glaring 1-0. to get the highlights, you can erase again over the rubbed area.
I am particularly loving the blending of background with the figure's mid-tones in these drawings. I will continue on with that effect in later sessions.
this last one in particular could have used the idea of rubbing over the too light areas to bring them down. too late now. there was too little time anyway. I really feel like I need a chance to do long poses again. that might take some private session with a more professional model. when I draw in a group there's usually complaints if the pose is longer then 30min. when I draw alone my model cant hold the pose that long.
